Este ano, mulheres venceram ou compartilharam vitórias em 17 das categorias. As primas Mariko e Jillian Tamaki lideram a lista, com três troféus para sua graphic novel Roaming: Melhor Álbum Gráfico–Novo, Melhor Roteirista e Melhor Desenhista/Arte-finalista. Becky Cloonan levou prêmios por Melhor História Curta (The Kelpie) e Melhor Série Nova (Somna, com a artista Tula Lotay). Outras categorias vencidas por mulheres incluíram Melhor Série Limitada, Melhor Publicação para Leitores Iniciantes, Melhor Publicação de Humor e Melhor Webcomic (Rachel Smythe).
Nenhuma editora dominou este ano, com prêmios distribuídos para 24 casas diferentes. Selos da Penguin Random House receberam quatro troféus, e Roaming representou três das quatro vitórias para a Drawn & Quarterly. Outras editoras com múltiplas vitórias foram Fantagraphics (3), DC Comics (2 mais 2 compartilhados), Image (2 mais 2 compartilhados) e Marvel (2). O único outro criador com múltiplas vitórias foi Daniel Warren Johnson por Transformers (Melhor Série Contínua, Melhor Roteirista/Artista).
A noite de gala foi apresentada pelo dublador Phil LaMarr e pelo roteirista/ator Thomas Lennon. O Prêmio Humanitário Bob Clampett, apresentado pela filha de Bob, Ruth, foi entregue a Regina Sawyer pela Women Comics Collective International. O Prêmio Russ Manning de Novo Talento Promissor foi para o artista Oliver Bly.
O 18º Prêmio Anual Bill Finger de Excelência na Escrita de Quadrinhos foi apresentado por Mark Evanier a dois recipientes: Jo Duffy e o falecido Ralph Newman. Maggie Thompson apresentou o vídeo especial In Memoriam em homenagem aos membros da família Comic-Con que faleceram no ano ado.
O Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award, dado a uma loja que fez um trabalho excepcional de apoio à arte dos quadrinhos tanto na comunidade quanto na indústria em geral, foi concedido por Joe Ferrara à Blackbird Comics and Coffeehouse em Maitland, Flórida.
Jim Thompson e Karen Green fizeram um resumo da cerimônia do Hall da Fama realizada mais cedo naquele dia. Além das 19 escolhas dos juízes que foram previamente anunciadas, os eleitores deste ano selecionaram Klaus Janson, Mike Mignola, Jill Thompson e Bryan Talbot para a inclusão. A a do Eisner Awards, Jackie Estrada, abriu e encerrou a cerimônia.
